Aliyah had some candy to give to her four children. She first took seventeen pieces for herself and then evenly divided the rest among her children. Each child received two pieces. With how many pieces did she start? USE THREE ENTENCES TO HELP EXPLAIN YOUR
ANSWER
Aliyah started with 33 pieces of candy.
ReplyDeleteif there are 33 pieces of candy you would subtract 17. After subtracting 17 you would have 16 pieces left. 16 distributed to 4 different children will give you 3 pieces for each child. Evenly.
I disagree with John because each kid (4) got 2 pieces of candy EACH. If each child got 2 and Aliyah took 17 for her self, than that means that you multiply 4x2 and you get 8. If you add 17+8=25. Aliyah started with 25 pieces of candy!
DeleteAliyah started with 25 pieces. she kept 17 for herself meaning if she has 4 children and they all had 2 each it would be 25 pieces started with.17 +(4^2) four squared would equal 25 hich they started with.

ReplyDeleteI agree with Alexus because, if Ailyah had took 17 of the candy 25-17=8 and she has 4 children. So 8/4=2. So all together, Ailyah had 25 pieces of candy.
DeleteI agree with Alexus because 25-17=8. Then if you divide 8 by 4 you would get 2. Meaning she had 4 kids and she gave each kid 2 pieces.
DeleteI agree with alexus because if each kid gets two peices. so that would be 8 divided by four which would get you down to two peices per kid
