Reflection Week 3
Six less than five times a number is the same as seven times the number. What is the number?
Setup an equation! Explain how you got your answer.
The equation is 5x-6=7x. In order to solve this you first subtract 5x from both sides which is -6=2x. Then you divide 2 from both sides and you get x=-3. The number is -3.
first you figure out how to write the equation which is 5x-6=7x. Then you would subtract 5x from both sides. last you would divide both sides by 2 and get -3. x=-3
I agree with all the people who said that the equation is 5x-6=7x, and that -3 is the number. This week in class, we learned how to add and subtract polynomials. We also learned how to multiply polynomials. A polynomial is a mononmial or sum of monomials.
5x - 6 = 7x
ReplyDeletestep 1: subtract 5x from both sides
step 2: which is -6 = 2x
step 3: divide 2x from both sides
step 4: x = -3
step 5: put -3 in for x to check it
5x-6=7x
ReplyDelete1.subtract 5x from both sides
2.you get -6=2x
3.divide 2 from both sides
4. you get x=-3
5x-6=7x
Deletefirst li8ke Kenneth said you subtract 5x from either side and then you get -6=2x then divide by two on each side and you get -3=xt
5x-6=7x
ReplyDeleteFirst you subtract 5x from both sides and you get -6 = 2x.
Second you divide 2 from both sides and you get x = -3

ReplyDelete5x-6=7x
ReplyDeleteSubtract 5x.
Divide by 2.
x=-3

ReplyDeleteForgot to say that each mononmial is called a term of the polynomial.
ReplyDeleteYes, agreed.
