GP 3 Week 9 Reflection (Due 3/13)

The Smith's are traveling to South Carolina with the Jones.  At one point the two families get seperated.  The Smith's were 20 miles ahead of the Jones.  If the Jones are traveling at 60 mph and the Smiths are traveling at 50 mph, how long will it take the Jones to catch up.  EXPLAIN

  1. It would take 2 hours for them to meet up.
What I did was I used ratios in order to compare the times. They started at two different distances. They continued until it was equivalent. Therefore it took two hours for a traveling of 120 miles total.

    1. I agree with John. It would take 2 hours for them to meet up. If you do 60 times 5 you get 120 miles. If you do 50 times 2, plus 20 you get 120 miles

  2. I agree with John also because it would take 2 hours for them to meet. 60 times 5 is 120 miles . if you multiply 50 times 2 plus 20 you get 120 miles

  3. I agree with John because 2 times 60 equals 120. Then 50 times 2 is 100 then 100+20 equals 120. So it would take 2 hours for the Jones to catch up.

  5. I agree with John too because 2 times 60 equals 120. Then 50 times 2 is 100 then you add 100 plus 20 which is 120. So it takes 2 hours for him to catch up.

  7. I agree with John because if you multiply 2 by 60 you would get 120. Then if you multiply 50 by 2 and get 100. Then you would add 20 to 100 and get the answer of 120. Which equals 2 hours. ^^

  18. The possible number of ornaments is 6. to find that answer i multiplied 8.50 by 5 which equals 42.50 then I added 8.50 and got 51.06. It cost $51.06 for 6 ornaments.
