GP 1 Week 7 (Due 10/8)

Ben was a salesman at a car dealership where he made $10 per hour and $50 for every sale he made.  David worked at the same job and got paid $20 per hour.  If Ben worked 10 hours and sold 2 cars in a week, how many hours would David have to work to make more money than Ben?

Would you rather have a contract like Ben's or like David's?  Why?

  1. David would have to work 11 hours to make more than Ben. I got this answer by multiplying $10 per hour times by 10 hours plus $100 for the two cars sold. I would like to have David's contract because he makes money without having to sell cars.

  8. In order for David to earn more money than Ben, he would have to work 11 hours to earn more money than Ben.

I found this out by first finding out how much money Ben makes. I did this by creating an equation and substituting it with the numbers. 10(10)+50(2) = $200. Ben makes $200, while David would make $220 if he worked for 11 hours. 20(11) = $220.

I would like to have a contract like David's because he makes more money without having to sell any cars, just working for 11 hours.

  9. First I did 200 divided by 20 and got 10. Since it asked to make more I simply added one and so David would have to work 11 hours. I would like Bens contract because he makes money when he dosen't sell a car and he makes money when sells a car.

  10. David needs work 11hours to have more money than ben because if ben works 10hours 10x$10=100 add $50and$50 for the two cars that equals $100 now you add $100 to $100=200$ david=$20 per hour $20x11hours=220 .I would want davids contract because he will always have more money than ben.

  14. David would have to work for 11 hours. Ben made 200 dollars. So to discover my answer, I divided 200 by 20, which is 10. Since we want him to make more money I just added another hour.

I'd rather have David's job. I say this because if Ben didn't sell any cars and he and David worked the same number of hours, then David make twice as much as Ben.
