GP 4 Week 4 Reflection (Due 4/24)
At a baby shower, we started discussing baby statistics. One of the women told us she had heard a report that for every 100 babies born, there were 6 more boys than girls. If we were to randomly pick a child from a representative group, what is the probability of picking a girl?
47 Percent.
ReplyDeleteI spit 100 into 2 because we have 2 main groups. That's 50/50. Than I have to guess and check. I need two numbers that add together to get one hundred and are 6 away from each other. So 53:100 are boys and 47:100 are girls. since its out of 100 than that gives you your precent.

I had gotten 47 percent because I had split 100 in half due to 2 main groups. I had gotten 50% and another 50%. I would need two numbers that will get a sum of 100 and that they are six away from each other. Then I would have 53 out of 100 boys and 47 out of 100 girls. The sum is 100 which will make the equation a percentage.

ReplyDeleteI got 47% of picking a girl. If you spilt 100 in have, you get 50. So since it has to be 6 away, I split 6 in have and added 3 to 50 and subtracted 3 from 50 and got 53 out of 100 boys and 47 out of 100 girls.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Alexus because when you divide 100 by 2, you get 50. Then if you divide 6 by 2, you get 3. So then you would add 3 to 50 and subtract 3 from 50 so you would get 53 out of 100 boys and 47 out of 100 girls.
