GP 4 Week 3 Reflection (DUE 4/17)

A bat ate a total of 1050 dragon flies on four consecutive nights. Each night she ate 25 more than on the night before. How many did she eat each night? Solve this algebraically

  1. x = the number of flies eaten on the first night. The 2nd night is x + 25, the 3rd night is x + 50, and the 4th night is x + 75. The equation is x + x + 25 + x + 50 + x + 75 = 1050 or 4x + 150 = 1050. Subtract 150 from both side and that leaves 4x = 900.Divde both sides by 4 and that leaves x = 225. So the first night was 225, the 2nd night was 250, the 3rd night was 275, and the 4th night was 300. 225 + 250 + 275 + 300 = 1050.

    1. I agree with DaJon. The equation would be x + x + 25 + x + 50 + x + 75 = 1050 or 4x + 150 = 1050. I subtracted 150 and got 900. 4x= 900. I then divide by 4 and got x= 225. 225 + (225+25) + (250 + 25) + (275 + 25) = 1050.

    2. I agree with Dajon. If you use X to represent the number of dragon flies the bat ate each day, you can use the equation x+x+25+x+50+x+75=1050 which simplified is 4x+150=1050. Since 150 and 1050 are both like terms, subtract 150 from 1050, which equals 900. 4x=900 divide 900 by 4, which x=225. Plug 225 in for x 4(225)+150=1050. Therefore the bat ate 225 the first night. Since the bat ate 25 more each day, add 25 to 225, which is 250. Then day 3 is 275, and day 4 is 300. 225+250+275+300=1050

  3. x = the number of flies eaten on the first night.

  4. x = the number of flies eaten on the first night. The second night is x + 25, the third night is x + 50, and the fourth night is x + 75. The equation is x + x + 25 + x + 50 + x + 75 = 1050 or 4x + 150 = 1050. Subtract 150 from both side and that leaves 4x = 900. Divide both sides by 4 and that leaves x = 225. So the first night was 225, the second night was 250, the third night was 275, and the fourth night was 300. 225 + 250 + 275 + 300 = 1050.

  5. I agree with Dajon as well. The equation would have to be (x)+(x)+25+(x)+50+(x)+75 which equals 1050 or on the other hand 4(x)+150=1050. Then I had subtracted 150 from 1050 and had got 900. 4(x)=900. Finally I had divided by 4 and gotten (x)=225. 225=(225+25)+(250+25)+(275+25)=1050.

  8. So "x" stands for the amount of dragon flies eaten on the first night. The second night you would add x and 25, third night you would add x and 50. Then the fourth night you would add 75. So the equation would be 4x+150=1050. Then subtract 150 from each side and divide each side by 4, and you would get x=225.

  10. I agree with Dajon because the equation would have to be (x)+(x)+25+(x)+50+(x)+75 which equals 1050. Then you subtracte 150 from 1050 and get 900. Finally you divide by 4 and get (x)=225. 225=(225+25)+(250+25)+(275+25)=1050.
