Week 2 Due 4/11


Due 4/11

Train A leaves the station heading west at 40mph.  3 hours later Train B starts heading west at 60mph.  They are both going to a destination that is 300 miles away.  Will Train B ever catch Train A?  If so, when?  If not, where will Train B be when Train A reaches the destination?

    train a: 40 , 80, 120, 160, 200, 240, 280, 320
    train b: 0 , 0, 0, 60, 120, 180, 240, 300
    so... train b will never catch up to train a

  2. I Agree with janae you make a chart to compare The speed and mph so Mph is 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 and Train A. would Be , 40,80,120,160,200,240,280,320 && Train B woulv be 0,0,0, 60,120,180,240,300 Which means train B will never be able to catch up with train A

    It would take train A 7 & 1/2 hours.
    Train B:0 0 0 60 120 180 240 300
    It would take train B 8 hours.
    Train B will never catch up to Train A.

  4. You can do a proportion . It will give you the same number for the first one. But the answer will still be 7.5 and 8.

  6. I agree with everyone who said that Train B. will never catch up to Train A.
    Train B. will be be about 30 miles away from the destination by the time Train A. reaches the destination.

    This week, we worked on OAA practice question. And reviewed on some things, such as significant digits and proportions.

  7. I agree with everyone who said train b will never catch up to train a. because train A goes 40 miles per hour and train B goes 60 mile per hour. So you set up a graph:

    Train A
    miles 40 80 120 160 200 240 280 320
    hours 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 So it would take train A 7 and 1/2 hours

    Train B
    miles 0 0 0 60 120 180 240 300
    hours 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 So it would take Train B 8 hours...

    So that means Train B will never be able to catch Train A.
