Due October 25th!

When a real estate agent sells a house, the agent receives 6% of the sale price as a commission.  The agent lists the sale price for a house as $208,000.

a.  How much of a commission should the agent expect to receive for selling this house at full price?

b.  The house actually sells for $205,000.  How much of a commission does the agent receive?

THERE IS A NEW PROBLEM>>>> LOOK IN THE COMMENTS AFTER JANAE'S FOR THE NEW QUESTION

  1. A
    6%x208,00=12,480
The real estate agent should receive $124,80.
    B
    6%x205,000=12,300
    The agent should receive $12,300.

    1. I agree with Jataysia
      A:
      6%x208,000=12,480
the agent should get 12,480 dollars for this sale
      B:
      6%x205,000=12,300
the agent should get 12,300 dollars for this sale

i don't not agree with Jataysia in the fact that she put don 20800 instead of 208,000

  2. I agree with Jataysia because I did exactly what she did which was:
A: 208,000x6%=12,480 So that's how much the agent should make which is $12,480
B:So for B it's the same process but instead of putting in 208,000 you gotta put 205,000. So what you do is 205,000x6% which equals 12,300

    1. I agree with both Jataysia and Tala. For A, if you take 6% and multiply it by 208,000, it should equal 12,480. The commission that the agent should expect to receive for selling this house at full price is $124,80. For B, you do the same thing, which is multiply. Instead, you replace 208,000 with 205,000. The answer should come to $12,300

    2. I agree with Tala. A. 6%x208,00=12,480 so the commission that the agent should recieve for selling the is 124,80. So you would do the same for b. 6%x205000=12300

  3. NEW PROBLEM!!
The real estate agent actually has an assistant who will make 30% of what the real estate agent makes. How much money will the assistant make?

  4. The first thing you should do is find what the real estate agent made which was $12,300. Then what you should do is you multiply 30% of 12,300 which is 3690. So the assistant should make $3,690. :)

    1. I also agree because after you find what the real estate makes which is 12,300 then mulitiply 30% of 12,300 and you should get 3,690 Which means the Assistent makes 3,690

  5. If the real estate agent is paid $12,480, the assistant should receive $3,744.
If the real estate agent makes $12,300, the assistant should receive $3,690.

    I multiplied 12,480 and 0.30 to get 3,744. Multiplied again for 12,300 and 0.30.

  6. Since the real estate agent makes $12,480 from selling a house that was sold for $208,000, multiply $12,480 by 30%.
This will come up to $3,744, so the assistant should receive $3,744 from a house sold for $208,000. This means that the real estate agent should have made about $8736 while the assistant made about $3,744. ($12,480 - $3,744= $8,736)
If the real estate agent made $12,300 from the house that was $205,000, multiply 12,300 by 30%. This will come up to $3,690, so the assistant will make $3,690 from a house that sold for $205,000. This means that the real estate agent should have made about $8610 while the assistant made about $3,690. ($12,300 - $3,690 = $8610)

    1. I agree with Vang because if the real estate made 12,300 from the sold house that was 205,000 you would multiply that by 30% and you would get 3,690. so the real estate made 3,690.

  7. I agree with Nikola, Vang, and Mary because what the real estate agent made was 12,300. Then you multiply 12,300 by 30% because the real estate agent actually has an assistant who will make 30%. So you multiply them which is $3690. So the assistant will make $3690. My answer is $3,690

  8. I agree with them because if the real estate made 12,300 the the house that costed 205,000 you will have to multiply by 30 percent and you would get your answer, the answer is $3,690

  9. I agree with everyone because the real estate agent made: 12,300. And the house costs 205,000. To find out how much the assistant will make you will multiply 12,300 by 30% and get 3,690!!!!!!

  11. i agree with their answers. first you multiply 6% by 205,000. then you take 12,300 and multiply that by 30% which will give you 3,690

  12. I Agree With all Of You. First you have to find the how much the real estate made
which is $12,300 From 6% x 208,000 which you get $12,300 What you do to get the
assistant make is 30% x 12,300 and you get $3,690.

  13. First the real estate women man person made $12,300 . so to get the women man,s assistants earnings you must multiply 30% and 12,300. you then get 3,690.

  14. I agree.with those before me because you have to times 6%by 208000 making 12300 then multiply it by 30% making the assistant pay $3690

  15. I agree with you guys too. When I punch in my calculator 12,300*30% (* is multiplacation) I get 3,690. So the assistant gets $3,690.

  16. I agree because the agent made $12,300 off of the house, which costed 205,000.
Then you would take 30% the assistant gets and multiply it by the $12,300. The answer you would come to is... the assistant made.. $3,690!
