Due Sept 13
Pick a concept that we have learned in our Algebra books. Explain the concept in three or more sentences. Put the word or concept at the beginning of your reflection!
The order of operations (PEMDAS) is a concept we have learned. An example of this is 20-(6x3). You do the parentheses first then subtract that answer with 20. So in all, it's 2.
Significant digits is the concept I have learned. They digits in a measurement that carry meaning contributing to the precision of a measurement. For example my sisters bottle is 8oz, and the numbers 1- 8 are the significant digits.
Substituting A Variable For A Number One concept that we learned is substituting a variable in for a number. An example of this is 1+x=2,when x=1.That is one concept that we learned in the book.
Order of operation is my concept. PEMDAS is the order in which we do a problem, it is the steps that we use. PEMDAS, stands for parentheses, exponents, multiply, divide, addition, subtraction. An example: 55(10-9) First do 10-9, which will give you 1. Next multiply 55 by 1. The answer is 55.
PERIMETER: Perimeter is a concept where you find the distance around an area. This means you have to use the formula 2L+2W= to find the perimeter. EXAMPLE: A rectangle has a length of 5 inches and a width of 8 inches what is the perimeter? ANSWER: 2(5)+2(8)=26 inches.
Area.... Area is when u take the longer side by the shorter side. For example a triangle length is 56 Ndd the width is 7 u old have to multiply the sides to get ur answer Ndd it would be in sq feet. Answer: 392sqft
I choose Area, Perimeter and Equations(P.E.M.D.A.S. or order of operation) Because I Wanting to be an engineer need to know Area like the bake of my hand. This being said Algebra is a vital Important Skill I need to know and Algebra and Area, Perimeter and equations go together like glue.
1 Area - I love area because it is easy and kind of fun. Over all I think it is kind of astounding you can solve life problems with simple equations to see the measurement of a area based off of simple easy numbers. For Example lest say your seeing how muck a moving box can hold, If the box is 12In CB You just Cube the 12 or 12 to the 3rd power(12 . 12 . 12). Of course the answer is 1728In CB.
2 Perimeter- Also solving problem using simple math to Help you some day. Any way using any numbers you can fence your yard or Plot a garden. This ties with area the two are somewhat similar.
3 Equation(P.E.M.D.A.S. or order of operations.) This nifty skill allows us to solve equations and also create our own to helps us in ordinary life. This Makes Area and Perimeter Possible. All out there are endless possibilities with math.
The concept i choose is area. to find the area of a square with the length of 12in. and the width of 12in. you multiply 12.12=144in. squared. that is how the area of a square is found.
My concept is... ... order of operations! For order of operations, you use the saying, PEMDAS, in which stands for, parentheses, exponents, multiply, divide, add and we shall never forget subtract. An example to and for the order of operations; 12(3x2+2) 12(6+2) 12(8) =96!!!!!!!!!!
My concept i guess would be ..... Area.Area is the the area of an shape or anything i guess to find the area u have to do this L x W =A :D ya i guess here an i.e the length of an rectangle 5 and the width of the rectangle is 4 so you do 5 x 4 = 20 so yea :I that my concept xD.
Independent variable An independent variable is the variable that is changed in an experiment. y(x)= y depends on the value of x, the independent variable which can be changed.
My Concept Is Division This Is A Ex.81/9=9 Division Is The Opposite Multiplying. Using Division Finding The Quotient Of Two Or More Numbers. Division Is Separating Something Into Half's Or Peices

DeleteRead all directions! Put your concept/word up top.
ReplyDeleteRATE ...Is My Concept ...
ReplyDeleteA Rate Is A Ratio Between Two Measurements With Different Units...
For An Example .. 60 mins/120
My concept is unit rate. Which is a ratio between a quantity and a single unit.
ReplyDeleteEx. 200 lbs./1 box.
Substituting A Variable For A Number

Very good Nikola but it must be at least 3 sentences to earn full credit!

First do 10-9, which will give you 1. Next multiply 55 by 1.
The answer is 55.
My concept is writing out verbal models into equations. As in, "The product of 4 and a number x that is greater than 18." The answer would be 4x>18.

ReplyDeleteGood idea Cassandra. Remember if it is a triangle the formula is 1/2 bh. I think you are thinking of a rectangle.
